Tamil Nadu police have arrested four individuals, including a BJP functionary, for allegedly threatening Masillamani Desiga Gnanasambanda Swamigal, 27th Guru Maha Sannidham of Dharmapuram Aadheenam. They allegedly demanded money, threatening to release alleged pornographic videos should he not comply. The spiritual institution gained national attention in the past as it participated in the Sengol installation event in Parliament.
