Modi’s congratulatory remarks for Payal Kapadia winning the Grand Prix at 2024 Cannes has “inspired” netizens, including MP Shashi Tharoor, to request Modi government to withdraw cases against her and fellow FTII students for protesting the appointment of an unqualified person as chairman in 2015. The government also cancelled her FTII grant. Oscar-winner sound designer Resul Pookutty backed the demand.
