Telangana priests versus government over ancient temple rights

Since 2014, 11 priests have been fighting the case — Madapathi Nagendrappa v/s State of Telangana — against the Endowments Department.

The management of an ancient hill-top temple in Telangana’s Rangareddy district is currently the bone of contention between the endowments department and the Madapathi family of that temple’s priests. The government cites safety, development and management issues for appointing an Executive Officer to oversee the administration. The priests argue they’ve been managing the affairs for over seven generations.
