Southwest monsoon intensifies in Kerala, trigger landslides

Incessant heavy rains lashed various parts of the state capital, leading to sudden waterlogging on busy roads and narrow lanes alike.

Two days after the Southwest Monsoon made an early onset over Kerala, widespread rains lashed several parts of the state triggering landslides, uprooting trees and leading to waterlogging. Kottayam, Idukki and parts of Ernakulam are witnessing intense downpours. Landslides and uprooted trees have been reported from interior Idukki. Traffic restrictions are in place along Thodupuzha-Puliyanmala state highway.
