Soumya Swaminathan named principal advisor for TB elimination program

As principal advisor for the programme, Swaminathan will provide technical advice on the overall strategy to achieve its goals.

Soumya Swaminathan

Soumya Swaminathan, former chief scientist of the WHO and ex-director general of the ICMR, has been appointed as principal advisor for the Union Health Ministry’s National Tuberculosis Elimination Program on a pro-bono basis. In this role, she will offer technical advice on strategy, policy directions, course corrections, and research strategy for optimal outcomes, the health ministry said.
