Shortage of staff cripples Karnataka engineering colleges

Minister for Higher Education MC Sudhakar blames Finance Department for over 47% teaching positions in engineering colleges and 36.70% in polytechnics lying vacant.

Karnataka’s Higher Education Minister MC Sudhakar said the Finance Department has not approved multiple proposals submitted to fill vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in the state’s engineering colleges. As much as 47.52 percent of teaching positions and 88.96 percent of non-teaching staff posts are lying vacant in the colleges. In polytechnics, 36.70 percent of teaching posts are vacant.
