Several candidates, including Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, filed their nominations on Wednesday, in Karnataka. Minister HC Mahadevappa’s son Sunil Bose filed his nomination as Congress nominee from Chamarajanagar. His opponent S Balaraj and Leader of Opposition in the Council Kota Srinivas Poojari (Udupi-Chikmagalur) also filed their papers. Congress’ K Jayaprakash Hegde, who compiled the “caste census”, filed from Udupi-Chikmagalur.
