Shivakumar urges EC to direct Centre to release drought relief

Shivakumar also highlighted the Karnataka government has approached the Supreme Court seeking drought relief funds for the state.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has appealed to the EC to direct the Centre to release ₹4,663 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund to the state to tackle severe drought. He also appealed for the release of an additional support fund of ₹18,171 crore, pointing out that 224 out of 236 taluks are reeling under drought.
