SC rejects pleas of cross verification of votes cast using EVMs with VVPAT

The Supreme Court on Friday, 26 April, rejected pleas seeking complete cross-verification of votes cast using EVMs with a VVPAT and said “blindly distrusting” any aspect of the system can breed unwarranted scepticism. The court directed the EC to examine whether bar codes can be put on VVPAT slips so that they can be mechanically counted by a counting machine.
