The Opposition in Kerala has voiced strong concerns regarding the transparency of the upcoming delimitation process for local body elections. Opposition leaders criticised the state government for excluding them from consultations. A special Cabinet meeting on 20 May decided to initiate the delimitation process to redraw ward boundaries. It may create approximately 1,200 new local body wards, adding to the existing 21,900.
