Despite being a power-surplus state, certain remote pockets in Tamil Nadu, such as the villages in Pechipparai and Harur, still depend on kerosene lamps after dark. Connecting these areas to the grid is a challenging task, due to the tough terrain and other issues. Renewables-based mini-grids could be a solution to provide power supply to these areas.
