Chennai and nearby districts on Thursday, 16 May, received light to moderate rainfall. Several other regions of Tamil Nadu also witnessed showers. The intermittent overnight rainfall resumed in the morning, bringing cheer to people. The IMD has said light to moderate rainfall was likely in many places and isolated heavy rain in some areas till 19 May.
