A study in June 2024 by Cadabams Hospitals, among India’s largest private mental health hospitals in Bengaluru, showed a significant rise in psychiatric emergencies – ranging from severe anxiety attacks to acute psychosis and suicidal behavior –among individuals across age groups. Psychologists and psychiatrists want a protocol to identify psychiatric emergencies, a robust mental health infrastructure and a comprehensive SOS system.
