Price of Centre making Hindi mandatory for Eklavya school teachers

The Union government made Hindi proficiency a mandatory criterion for the recruitment test for teachers in Eklavya Model Residential Schools. The decision has resulted in a disproportionate number of recruits from Hindi-speaking states, cutting short the strength of non-Hindi-speaking teachers in Telangana. Reports of teachers switching to Hindi mid-lecture further added to the concerns of parents, and students.
