The court added that the police cannot be allowed to tutor prosecution witnesses as it amounts to gross misuse of power.

A Supreme Court bench, setting aside life sentence for two accused in a murder case in Tamil Nadu, said it is surprising that the trial court and high courts overlooked witness tutoring “One can reasonably imagine the effect of ‘teaching’ the witnesses inside a police station. A blatant act by police to tutor material prosecution witnesses.”
