Plea in SC to restrain Centre from filling vacant posts of ECs

A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking to restrain the Union government from appointing new election commissioners as per a 2023 law, the provisions of which have been challenged in the apex court. The plea has challenged the provisions of the CEC and other ECs (Appointment, Conditions of Service and terms of office) Act, 2023.
