The gold was valued at ₹4.77 crore by the government-certified assayer. The passengers were arrested and further investigation is in progress.

Gold smuggled

DRI has seized over 9kg of gold worth ₹6.29 crore at Bengaluru airport on 4 June, an official said on Thursday, 6 June. In the first case, the DRI authorities got specific input that a syndicate would conceal gold inside an aircraft. Later, the officials discovered contraband gold concealed in the front lavatory of an Emirates flight from Dubai.
