Over 329 lives lost in train accidents since Vaishnav took charge

Kanchanjungha Express accident is the latest addition to rail accidents in India since Ashwini Vaishnav took charge as Minister in 2021. Balasore accident in June 2023 killed at least 296.

The 15 deaths following the derailment of three coaches of the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express in West Bengal’ on Monday, 17 June add to the list of rail accidents in India since Ashwini Vaishnav took charge as Railways Minister in 2021, taking away over 329 lives. This includes the worst accident in Balasore in 2023 that killed 296 people.
