NIA detains Ballari native for his ‘resemblance’ to café bomber

The suspect identified as Syed Shabbir Ahmed was detained by the NIA team after they learnt that he was in touch with the prime suspect.

The NIA, probing the IED blast at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe, detained one person from Ballari district in the early hours of Wednesday, 13 March. The suspect, Syed Shabbir Ahmed (47), was detained after the NIA learnt he was in touch with the prime suspect — the person who planted the low-intensity IED at the cafe on the afternoon of 1 March.
