Male elephant dies of ‘electrocution’ in Tamil Nadu

The exact cause of the death will be known only after conducting an autopsy on Wednesday, the officials said.

A male elephant died of “electrocution” in Anthiyur forest area in Erode, forest officials said on Wednesday, 19 June. Authorities suspect the animal might have been electrocuted. They said farmers cultivating crops have put up electric fences to prevent entry of animals into their farmland. The elephant searching for water and food might have tried to enter the farmland.
