Kerala to cull over 4,000 ducks to check bird flu

An official release stated that 4,081 ducks would be culled at the Niranam Government Duck Breeding Centre starting Tuesday, 14 May.

Considering bird flu cases in Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts, the Kerala government on Monday directed the authorities to step up efforts to control the situation. State Animal Husbandry Minister J Chinchu Rani convened a meeting following the avian influenza outbreak. An official release stated 4,081 ducks would be culled at the Niranam Government Duck Breeding Centre in Pathanamthitta starting Tuesday.
