Kerala CM announces hike, disbursal of pending pensions

CM Vijayan attributed the delay to financial constraints arising from what he described as the Union government’s "discriminatory policies" since 2021.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the disbursement of long-overdue social security pensions totalling ₹4,250 crore over the fiscal years 2024-25 and 2025-26. He said that the outstanding five instalments of the social security pensions will be disbursed. During a session at the State Legislative Assembly, Vijayan also proposed an increase in the current welfare pension amount.
