A Kerala court on 22 May, sentenced three accused, including a mother and her son, to death for murdering a 71-year-old near Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram in 2022. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court sentenced Rafeeka Beevi, Al Ameen, and son Shafeeq for murdering Shanthakumari. They are repeat offenders, involved in another case in which they are accused of killing a teenager.
