Karnataka minister fact-checks PM Modi on metro ridership

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said there has been an increase of 35 lakh passengers per month in 2024 compared to 2023, and revenue has also increased.

Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that Metro Rail ridership rose by 30 percent in the past year despite free rides to women on non-luxury government buses. He responded to a reported statement of the prime minister that free bus travel will affect Metro Rail revenues. Rather, the metro ridership is 35 lakh passengers per month in 2024 compared to 2023.
