Karnataka BJP cites heat wave to change polling hours on 7 May

Polling was held between 7 am and 6 pm during Karnataka's first phase of the Lok Sabha polls in 14 constituencies on 26 April.

Citing the ongoing heatwave in the state, Karnataka BJP on Friday, 3 May, petitioned the Election Commission with a request to modify polling hours to 6 am-7 period in the 14 parliamentary constituencies that go to polls on 7 May. The timing was 7 am to 6 pm in Karnataka’s first phase in 14 constituencies on 26 April.
