Sircilla town is popular in Telangana under the moniker of the Textile Town. In Sircilla many families’ livelihoods are based on weaving national flags. While they were initially paid ₹1 per flag, during the pandemic, this payment was soon halved. ‘We should receive ₹2 per flag for this to be a viable income. Currently, we get paid 50 paise,” a weaver said.
