Election manifestoes of mainstream political parties focus on universal healthcare, new medical colleges, and increased GDP expenditure on health. Experts however, say what matters is actual implementation. A comparison of manifestoes shows Congress, CPI(M) and DMK pledge to increase health allocation to four percent of GDP from current 1.2 percent. BJP promises to eliminate TB, leprosy, lymphatic filariasis and rubella.
