Expert says wastewater could address Bengaluru’s water woes

Biome Environmental Trust did a study and found out that treated water-filled lakes and tanks increased the yields of borewells.

Director of Biome Environmental Solutions S Vishwanath said consuming treated wastewater will not cause health issues. Advocating using treated wastewater to overcome water shortage, he said people were unaware that wastewater was already being consumed indirectly. He pointed at the Lakshmi Sagara Lake in Kolar, filled with wastewater. The lake water has been used to fill tanks and irrigation.
