Ex-bureaucrats Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar are the new election commissioners, selected by a panel chaired by the Prime Minister, committee member Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said on Thursday, 14 March. He said the Chief Justice of India should have been in the panel and it wasn’t clear how six names were shortlisted from over 200 candidates within a day.
