Ex-BJP MLA turns rebel, to contest Karnataka MLC poll independently

He was expecting an MLC ticket for the Karnataka South West Graduates' constituency but the party fielded Dr Dhananjaya Sarji.

Striking a rebellious note, former BJP MLA Raghupathi Bhat has announced he will contest the upcoming Karnataka MLC election on 3 June as an independent candidate. He had been sulking ever since BJP denied him a ticket in the 2023 Assembly election and fielded Yashpal Suvarna, who won the election.
