Election Commissioner Arun Goel resigns ahead of LS polls

The three-member EC panel now has only Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, following Anup Pandey's retirement and Goel's resignation.

Election Commissioner Arun Goel resigned on Saturday, days before the panel was expected to announce the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His tenure was till December 2027. President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation with effect. The reason for his stepping down was not known. With his resignation, the three-member EC panel now has only the Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar.
