Drying Bengaluru lakes to receive 1,300 mn litres of treated water

BWSSB has extended the registration deadlines for water tanker owners till 15 March aimed at encouraging more water suppliers.

Bengaluru’s civic authorities will fill drying lakes with 1,300 million litres of treated water a day to replenish groundwater. Aimed at managing the water crisis, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board will also install filter borewells and construct water plants near restored lakebeds. The Irrigation Department is supplying water to Devanahalli, where the airport is located, from the Kote lake.
