A proposal to rename Ramanagara district as ‘Bengaluru South’ has gained momentum with Deputy CM Shivakumar-led delegation meeting CM Siddaramaiah and submitting a memorandum to raise the pitch. The district was created in 2007, when HD Kumaraswamy was the chief minister of the JD(S)-BJP coalition. He had earlier threatened a fast unto death if the district was renamed.
