Centre cracks down on 18 OTT platforms for vulgar content

The I&B Ministry directed the OTT platforms not to propagate obscenity and abuse under the guise of "creative expression".

18 OTT platforms banned

The Centre on Thursday, 14 March, banned 18 OTT platforms and their social media accounts for publishing obscene, vulgar, and even pornographic content. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said 18 OTT platforms and 19 websites, 10 apps (seven on Google Play Store, three on Apple App Store), and 57 social media accounts were disabled for public access in India.
