Central panel to look into queer community issues

A committee under the Union Cabinet Secretary will look into the queer community’s issues, including non-discriminatory access to services and that they do not face threats of violence. According to a government notification issued on Tuesday, 16 April, the panel will ensure queer persons are not subjected to “involuntary” medical treatments and surgeries, including modules to cover mental health.
