Ceiling on net borrowing: SC reserves order on Kerala’s plea

The Supreme Court on Friday, 22 March, reserved its order on the Kerala government’s plea seeking interim relief in a lawsuit contesting a ceiling on net borrowing. Kerala had filed a suit accusing the Centre of interfering in the exercise of its “exclusive, autonomous and plenary powers” to regulate the state’s finances by imposing a cap on borrowing.
