Every year, during Bonalu, temples are given cheques from the Telangana government to facilitate the celebrations. On Monday, BRS MLA Sabita Indra Reddy and Congress leaders argued over its protocols. At the Qilla Maisamma temple in Maheshwaram, Reddy alleged that the officials invited Congress leaders to the stage, but not her, who represents the constituency. She staged a sit-in protest near the stage.
