BJP, Cong use lawyers’ letter to win brownie points

The lawyers said a “vested interest group” was trying to pressure the judiciary based on "frivolous logic and stale political agendas”.

The BJP and Congress accused each other of trying to pressure the judiciary after a group of prominent lawyers wrote to Chief Justice DY Chandrachud urging him to protect the judiciary from “vested interests”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “to browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture” while Jairam Ramesh, AICC general secretary, accused Modi of hypocrisy.
