BJP, AIADMK fighting by-poll via proxy: Chidambaram

Tamil Nadu's principal Opposition party, AIADMK, on 15 June announced a boycott of the by-poll to the Vikravandi Assembly constituency.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday, 16 June, alleged that BJP and AIADMK were fighting the 10 July Vikravandi by-poll through ‘proxy’ PMK and that the INDIA bloc must ensure the DMK candidate’s victory. Tamil Nadu’s principal Opposition party AIADMK on Saturday announced a boycott of the by-poll, alleging that DMK would not allow people to vote ‘independently’.
