Barcode led Kerala police to mother who threw baby from balcony

The barcode revealed that the consignment was delivered to the woman's parents. The police requested the media not to identify the young woman, a student, since she was a rape survivor.

The probe into the murder of an infant on 3 May— destined to live only for three hours — whose body was wrapped in a plastic courier packet was unravelled using a barcode. A keen eye spotted a partially damaged barcode on the blood-soaked cover and forensic experts deciphered the code, leading them to the culprit — 23-year-old mother of the newborn.
