Areas downstream Pampa Sagar on high alert

Water resource department sources said the water level should be brought down to 65 TMC from the existing 105 TMC to repair the damaged gate.

A flood alert has been sounded downstream of Pampa Sagar dam on the Tungabhadra river in Karnataka’s Koppal after the chain of the 19th crest gate broke, leading to the discharge of huge quantity of water. Water resource department sources said the water level should be brought down to 65 TMC from the existing 105 TMC to repair the gate.
