Aquatic faunal survey of Periyar Tiger Reserve reveals fish diversity

The first-ever aquatic multi-taxa survey in the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) has revealed an exceptional diversity of predatory insects and fish spread across the various habitats and elevations of the wildlife sanctuary. The number of fish species inside the various water bodies of PTR comprises close to 30 per cent of all fish species known from Kerala.
