A specialist examines India being dubbed world’s ‘cancer capital’

What is leading to the increasing number of cancer cases in India and is there any way that one can prevent it?

A recent Apollo Hospitals report called India the world’s cancer capital. Dr Narayana Subramaniam, Head and Neck Surgery specialist at Bengaluru’s Sparsh Hospitals says few cancers are rising in India, but has also got better at diagnosing cancers. A majority of cancers can be prevented as are sporadic and linked to environmental factors or exposures like tobacco and alcohol, he says.
