District collectors of Vellore, Karur, Ariyalur, Tiruchirappalli and Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu appeared before the ED officials in Chennai on Thursday, 25 April, in connection with an ongoing money laundering probe related to alleged illegal sand mining in the state. The Supreme Court had directed them to do so, saying failure to appear would have serious consequences.
