In a major haul, the DRI seized ₹180 crore worth of narcotic drug methamphetamine en route to Sri Lanka from a rail passenger in Madurai. The latter’s wife was also detained. Preliminary investigation revealed the contraband was to be transported to Sri Lanka through the coastal route. Methamphetamine — “ice” or “crystal meth” — is a highly addictive psychostimulant.
