The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) on Friday, 8 March, forbade people from using potable (drinkable) water for non-consumption activities. They include cleaning, washing vehicles, tending to gardens, erecting buildings, constructing roads, or even indulging in the frivolity of water fountains and decorations. Violators will be fined ₹5,000 and an additional ₹500 for each day of non-compliance.
