NIRF Rankings 2023: 53 colleges from South India in the top 100

The ranking features 35 colleges from Tamil Nadu, 14 from Kerala, two from Karnataka and one each from Telangana and Puducherry.

NIRF College Rankings 2023

The Union Ministry of Education released on Monday, 5 June, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2023 for various categories.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras retained its top spot on the overall ranking for the fifth consecutive year.

At the same time, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru was ranked the top university in the country.

In the Colleges category of the NIRF Rankings 2023, Miranda House College in Delhi ranked first in the list, which includes 53 colleges from the South Indian states and Union Territories (UTs) among the top 100.

3 TN colleges in top 10

Three colleges from South India — all from Tamil Nadu — are among the top 10 in the country.

Presidency College in Chennai is placed in third place, followed by PSGR Krishnammal College for Women in Coimbatore in the fourth place. Loyola College in Chennai is in seventh place.

The NIRF top 100 colleges feature 35 from Tamil Nadu, 14 from Kerala, two from Karnataka and one each from Telangana and Puducherry.

No colleges from Andhra Pradesh made it to the list.

The Ministry of Human Resource and Development launched the NIRF in 2015 to rank educational institutions across the country.

According to the official website of the NIRF, the institutions are ranked based on the parameters of Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
