On Saturday, 18 November, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal jointly announced developmental projects worth ₹867 crore for Hoshiarpur district.
These include a medical college, auditorium and amphitheatre, water supply projects, construction of Tehsil building, playgrounds, a hospital wing, and a training institute, etc.
Mann said that it was a historic occasion as the fortunes of the entire “Kandi” region is being transformed. He said that these projects will give impetus to the development of this region and bring prosperity in the lives of people. He further added that the previous governments had blatantly ignored this region but his government is committed to its holistic development.
Targeting the opposition parties like Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Mann said that they had ruined the state and now cited morality. “SAD president Sukhbir Badal and his party had sold the interests of the state, ruined the lives of the common man, and now they are insulting the youth of Punjab by saying that AAP is the party of vagabonds (malangs),” said Mann.

He added, “Our party has a battery of intellectual leaders who have studied in the premier institutes both at the national and international level and all of them have proved their mettle in varied fields before entering politics.”
Mann said that these leaders, who don’t even know how to pronounce basic words of Punjabi, are talking baselessly about the state and its people.
He also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he is the “master of phraseology” who had befooled the people during his entire tenure. He sought the status of ₹15 lakh promised by the prime minister in each account and also an explanation on alleged permanent absence of Gurdaspur MP BJP Sunny Deol.

Predicting that AAP would win all 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab, Mann said that the BJP and the Congress had befooled the general public since independence.
“These parties have done nothing tangible for the well-being of the masses and just enjoyed the fruits of power. People will never forgive these parties for their misdeeds and will further teach them a befitting lesson in the coming polls,” added Mann.

Meanwhile, addressing the gathering, Arvind Kejriwal solicited fulsome support and cooperation of the people to strengthen the hands of the Bhagwant Mann-led government. He said that this is the need of hour to continue the ongoing pace of development and prosperity in the state.
Punjab government is making exemplary efforts for welfare of every section of the society, he said.
