Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will visit Punjab for a three-day tour starting tomorrow, 13 September.
Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, will inaugurate the state’s first school of eminence in Amritsar and address a public rally there. Kejriwal will be in the state from 13 to 15 September and participate in various programmes.
The “school of eminence” has been set up under the “education guarantee” to provide quality education to Punjab’s children.
This will be the first School of Eminence in Punjab, established in Amritsar. In the coming days, the AAP government will open 117 such Schools of Eminence throughout Punjab.
Kejriwal and Mann will also hold meetings with entrepreneurs in Amritsar, Jalandhar Ludhiana and Mohali to address their issues following which Chief Minister Mann is expected to make some significant announcements related to industry policy.
Kejriwal’s visit is expected to highlight and celebrate the Mann government’s achievements and guaranteed development.
The official statement about the development works in Punjab said, “We have fulfilled many of the major guarantees. This includes a guarantee of healthcare. A total of 659 ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ have been opened in Punjab so far, and several more are under construction, which will be operational in the service of the public in the next few months.”
It further read, “Similarly, the AAP government has also fulfilled the guarantee of electricity. The people of Punjab receive 300 units of electricity for free, benefiting nearly 90 percent of families in Punjab, with their electricity bills reduced to zero.”
“Additionally, the people have access to electricity 24 hours a day. Furthermore, efforts are underway to make Punjab corruption-free. For this, the Bhagwant Mann government has issued a WhatsApp number where anyone can file corruption-related complaints” read the state’s official statement.
The government says it has also fulfilled the guarantee of regularizing non-permanent employees. Over 12,000 temporary teachers have been regularized, and more than 36,000 government jobs have been provided so far in just 18 months.
“Since the formation of the AAP government in Punjab, investments exceeding ₹50,000 crores have been made by renowned private companies, creating opportunities for 2.77 lakh private sector jobs for the youth,” added the statement.
Meanwhile earlier today at a state-level function Mann said, “The state government is opening eight hi-tech centres for imparting training to the students for competitive exams, and these centres will provide quality training to youth for clearing the UPSC exams and sit on coveted positions in state and country.”
