The delegation met Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who said that the entire work of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, including functioning of the sessions, is being accomplished through a completely digital and paperless manner.

He said that by conducting a two-day NeVA conference-cum-workshop, all the MLAs and Administrative Secretaries were imparted training on the working of this new system. He said that a digital wing has been set up to make the functioning of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha hi-tech and connect it with modern tools of communication.

“Participation of the common man in the law-making process has increased with the use of the NeVA app through live webcasting of the proceedings. The entire working of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretariat has also become easier and paper is also being presented in the House through electronic method,” Sandhwan added.

Meanwhile, UT Khader said that the NeVA app is an efficient system, through which the overall functioning of the Punjab Assembly is running in a smooth and seamless fashion.

“We are also thinking about implementing such a system in the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha based on the pattern of Punjab and we have received important information that will be useful for them. On this occasion, the delegation also visited the House and tried their iPads and got first-hand information about the working of NeVA App,” he said.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) gave a special presentation to the delegation, sharing detailed information about the application and the queries raised by the delegation were answered.
